Chris Vrenna
Vrenna is best known as a founding member and the drummer for the band Nine Inch Nails. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame along with the other founding members of the band. He is also the founder of the band Tweaker, and was the keyboardist and drummer for the band Marilyn Manson.

Connor McDavid
Born in Ontario Canada, Mcdavid moved to Erie at the age of 15 to play for the Erie Otters. McDavid closed out his junior hockey career with the Otters. He proceeded to join the Edmonton Oilers, and has been a 3-time recipient of the NHL MVP award. Amongst his other achievements, McDavid became the youngest captain in the NHL at age 19.

Fred Biletnikoff
Biletnikoff was an exceptional wide receiver and then an assistant coach for the Oakland Raiders. He is a member of both the Pro Football Hall of Fame (NFL) and the College Football Hall of Fame. The annual Fred Biletnikoff Award is given to one outstanding receiver in the NCAA Division I FBS.

Harry T. Burleigh
Burleigh was a classical music composer, arranger, and musician. He worked closely with Czech composer Antonin Dvorak and other musicians. He and Dvorak were instrumental in popularizing Negro spiritual music. He was also known internationally as an accomplished baritone singer, and was sought out as a concert soloist for art music and opera. In 1917, Burleigh received the Spingarn Medal, awarded by the NAACP for outstanding achievement by an African American.

Joseph D. Pistone AKA "Donnie Brasco"
American FBI agent who worked undercover to infiltrate the Bonanno and Colombo Mafia families. These families were part of the major Five Families of the Mafia in NYC. Pistone’s work led to over 100 convictions of Mafia members. His experience was the basis for the film Donnie Brasco (1997), for which he was a technical adviser. His character was played by Jonny Depp in the film, alongside Al Pacino.

Marc Brown
The creator of Arthur the Aardvark, and an executive producer for the wildly popular PBS Kids television show Arthur. He is a 3-time Emmy award winner for his work on the show, which ran for 25 years. Tom Ridge
The 43rd Governor of Pennsylvania and the 1st United States Secretary of Homeland Security. Tom Ridge also served as an assistant district attorney in Erie County prior to being an elected official. Some notable areas around Erie include the Tom Ridge International Airport and the Tom Ridge Environmental Center at the entrance to Presque Isle.

That Thing You Do!
This 1996 comedy-drama was written and directed by Tom Hanks as his directorial debut. The main character, Guy Patterson, opens the film working in his family’s appliance store which is located in Erie, Pennsylvania. The titular song from the film was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.

It continued to be a center of conversation in pop culture, politics, and the arts.
